You May Have Missed A Big Celebrity Cameo In Sunday Night’s Episode Of ‘Game Of Thrones’ – Forbes

Noah Syndergaard of the New York Mets, now in Lannister red.

Only close observers and New York Mets fans noticed the big cameo during this past Sunday’s episode of Game Of Thrones.

Mets pitcher Noah ‘Thor’ Syndergaard donned a crimson Lannister uniform and hefted a throwing spear during the battle of the loot train, one of the show’s most impressive battles to date. He also wore a helmet, obscuring his long, Lannister-blond locks.

A fan of the show, Syndergaard was given a pretty awesome cameo as far as these things go—even if it ended in fire and blood.

“I think it’s the greatest TV show of all time, so just to be able to say I was in Game of Thrones is an unbelievable feeling,” Syndergaard told Sport’s Illustrated back in April.

The baseball star’s scene has been met with a much more positive reception than the unfortunate Ed Sheeran cameo back in the Season 7 premiere.

There’s no official word on whether Sheeran’s character, also a Lannister, was burnt to a crisp in the battle. We saw him last in the Riverlands, but it’s quite possible he would have met up with Jaime’s forces when they marched on Highgarden.

As far as cameos go, Syndergaard’s was pretty much pitch perfect. It wasn’t obvious or glaring and it was in one of the season’s best scenes. It was also the show’s most-viewed episode of all time. Not too shabby.
