Peru president says has finance minister replacement plan – Reuters

LIMA Peru’s President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski said on Friday he had a replacement plan in place for Finance Minister Alfredo Thorne in case “the worst happens.”

Thorne was scheduled to appear before the opposition-controlled Congress on Friday over a recording in which he appears to ask the comptroller’s office to approve a $520 million airport contract in exchange for a bigger budget. Thorne, who denies wrongdoing, could be forced to resign if Congress votes to censure him.
