Reese has been committed to Michigan longer than anyone else in the 2018 class. He and former Lee County teammate Aubrey Solomon, a five-star defensive tackle who signed with Michigan’s 2017 class, both gave a verbal pledge while visiting Ann Arbor on June 18, 2016. Reese envisions himself playing the viper position, a linebacker/safety hybrid that Jabrill Peppers held down while being a finalist for the 2016 Heisman Trophy. Reese is the No. 7 outside linebacker and No. 171 player overall in the 2018 class, according to 247Sports Composite rankings.
