Fame and fortune can be fickle. In the absence of a world tour, the pay of the world’s top-earning entertainers can plummet; others can bank big on the back of a new hit album. These are the biggest gainers and losers on FORBES annual Celebrity 100 ranking of the world’s highest-paid entertainers.

Diddy

2017 rank: No. 1

2016 earnings: $62 million

2016 rank: No. 22

Diddy is this year’s biggest dollar gainer. His pay is up a whopping $68 million on 2016’s total to rank No. 1 on the Celebrity 100, nearly two decades after appearing on the cover of the first-ever celebrity issue.

Drake

2017 earnings: $94 million

2017 rank: No. 4

2016 earnings: $38.5 million

2016 rank: No. 69

Drake more than doubled last year’s total thanks to relentless touring, plus endorsements with the likes of Apple, Nike and Sprite. His earnings are up 144% from $38.5 million in 2016, making him the biggest percentage gainer on the Celebrity 100.

Taylor Swift

2017 earnings: $44 million

2017 rank: No. 49

2016 earnings: $170 million

2016 rank: No. 1

Taylor Swift’s paycheck dipped $126 million from $170 million in 2016 to $44 million in 2014—a 74% decrease, and the largest percent and dollar decrease of anyone on the list. But don’t feel too bad for TSwift: Swift mints millions even in a quiet year on the strength of music sales and deals with Keds, Apple and AT&T.
